Co-Curricular

From Last Weekend’s Pride to This Weekend’s Promise
What a wonderful weekend it was across the College, and what an exciting weekend we now have ahead. At this point in the term, whether in sport or culture, the business of the College is front and centre. The energy, commitment and pride shown by our students, staff, coaches and families continues to highlight the strength of co-curricular life at St Patrick’s College.
Congratulations to our rugby grand finalists, the 14 A and 16 A teams, on their performances in the ISA Grand Finals. Both teams are to be commended for their tenacity, determination and courage. The continued growth of the Rugby Program is a testament to the boys’ effort and consistency, the coaches who support them each week, and the program developed and led by Mr Tatola. The impact of this inclusive Years 5 to 12 program is evident not only in results, but in the enjoyment, connection and improvement seen across the rugby community.
Football also enjoyed an outstanding weekend, with 18 teams qualifying for grand ginals from 22 available spots. This is an extraordinary achievement and reflects the depth, commitment and spirit within the program. We congratulate all teams and wish every player and coach all the very best at Macquarie University this weekend.
There was also a wonderful victory in tennis, with Division 4 crowned ISA Premiers after defeating Oakhill College five sets to one at Blacktown Tennis Centre. The Second IV and Third IV finished as ISA Runners Up, while the First IV, Fifth IV and Sixth IV each finished third overall. Congratulations to all players and coaches on a strong season and thank you to Mr Fontana for his leadership of the program.
In the Junior School, we congratulate Samuel U on finishing Runner Up in NSW Rugby League; Coby Y and Sam who will compete in NSWPSSA Rugby Union this week in Mudgee, and Nicolas O on making Nationals for Taekwondo.
Junior School families are also reminded that Term 4 summer season information will be shared shortly, with the Winter Presentation Night to be held on Friday 11 September in the College Gymnasium.
A note from our Athletic Development Department: Individual Athletic Development Reports are available to all students in Years 7, 8 and 10. Students who would like to receive their report are encouraged to contact Mr McCann (j.mccann@spc.nsw.edu.au).
Culture is also very much at the centre of College life this week. We acknowledge Debating students with their presentation evening and congratulate all who contributed to the season. We also look forward to Thursday evening’s Music Showcase, recognising the diligence, consistency and countless hours of practice that sit behind each performance. Music holds great value in a young person’s education, and we look forward to celebrating the talent, commitment and hard work of our students.
As we move into another important weekend, it is timely to remind all members of our community of the values that sit at the heart of SPC co-curricular life. We ask our students to compete, perform and participate with effort, humility, respect, teamwork and pride, and we ask our community to model these same values from the sideline, in the audience and in every interaction. The way we represent St Patrick’s College matters.
