World Youth Day 2027
You have probably heard that World Youth Day 2027 will be held in Seoul, South Korea. We have the opportunity to send students and staff with the groups travelling from Sydney Catholic Schools in July / August 2027. This is open to our current Year 9 and 10 students, who will be in Year 10 and 11 next year. Please note that travel is during school so any students doing accelerated HSC courses will not be able to attend as the Trial HSC examinations will be on at this time, and other students will need to catch up on work and assessments missed.
The option we are offering is ‘The Way of the Martyrs’ in South Korea. It is the most cost-effective option. Details below:
‘The Way of the Martyrs’ | |
|---|---|
| Length | 18 days |
| Dates | Sunday 25 July – Wednesday 11 August 2027 |
| Places visited | Seoul, Suwan, Jeonju, Mokpo, Busan, and Gyeongju, following the footsteps of the Korean martyrs and stepping into local culture. |
| WYD | The week itself is from 3 – 8 August 2027 |
| Cost | In excess of $8,000 |
While the cost of the World Youth Day Pilgrimage is slightly cheaper in Sydney Catholic Schools, we need to add the cost of staff to attend and supervise, as well as the cost to the College for their replacements. As such this will be dependent on the number of students attending. This may add thousands of dollars, but the families travelling may also be able to do some fundraising to help offset this.
After flying to Seoul, travel will be done in bus groups of approximately 40 people from Catholic schools across Sydney. All St Patrick’s College students and staff will be together. All students attending will be required to attend preparation and follow-up sessions at other venues in Sydney.
If we have enough interest from the community, we will hold a Parent Information Evening. To show a genuine expression of interest please complete this form by Friday 28 August –

You may also wish to find out what is happening in your own parishes in case there are other options for you to travel.
