Learning Diversity Update: NCCD & Looking Ahead

I hope everyone is having a smooth start to the term! As I settle into my role on Tuesdays and Thursdays, I wanted to share a quick update on our learning diversity frameworks and what’s coming up over the next few weeks at St Columba’s.

A key focus is working closely with classroom teachers to ensure the right support, adjustments, and resources are in place for every student who needs them.

Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD)

Each year, all Australian schools take part in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD). This annual process ensures schools receive the appropriate support and funding to meet our students' diverse needs. Not all students are included in the collection. When a student is receiving support or requiring tailored strategies in the classroom, or across the curriculum, they may be included. It involves no extra testing or changes to a child's daily routine, but documents and evidences of their support. Program Support Group (PSG) Meetings & Goal Setting

Working together with families is such an important part of how we support our learners, and I’m looking forward to collaborating with families in this space. In the coming weeks we will be hosting our next round of PSG meetings for children receiving or requiring additional support. This will be a great opportunity for parents, teachers and myself to sit down together, celebrate progress and set goals for the path ahead. Children will only have a PSG if they have a current Personalised Learning Plan (PLP). If this is your child, make sure to keep an eye out for the booking times.
