Term 1 2026
A very warm welcome, in this first newsletter edition, to all of our new Year 7s at Reservoir High School and welcome back to all our Year 8 students for 2026. We trust all students and their families had a great Christmas and holiday period and are now ready to concentrate on a productive year of learning ahead. In addition, welcome to Mr Friend, who has joined us this year in the Junior School as Year 7 Student Engagement Coordinator.
The start of the year has been smooth to date and we would like to congratulate all students on their positive beginning. Our Year 7 students have settled in very well and enjoyed their first days of Transition program, aimed at familiarising themselves with the school, their timetable, staff and our school expectations. They also participated in a range of sessions including the Gaga Pit, Meditation and IT Bootcamp. The annual Amazing Race was a clear highlight. Working in groups, students explored the school environment, locating rooms and buildings, as well as meeting staff and year 12 students. All students had a fantastic time!
Year 7 Camp

Our Year 7 Camp was extremely successful at Camp Toolangi just out of Kinglake, from Wednesday 11th February through to Friday 13th February. Despite ever changing weather, the camp was an excellent transition event for those students who attended. Students participated in many challenging activities such as high ropes, obstacle course, flying fox, rock climbing wall, archery, bush walks and bush hut building. This year 76 students attended camp, which made for lots of energy and atmosphere!! Highlights included the Disco, with DJ Ash, Mr Friend’s persistence in torrential rain and Rachel’s Icy Pole and Coke challenges.
A very big thankyou to Mr Friend, Ms Tucker, Mr Sirianni, Rachel Farmer, Ms Zhu, Ms Cerra and Matt Atkins for their fantastic support and leadership over the three days!!
IMPACT
All students have made a terrific start in Impact so far this year. All Year 7 and 8 students are part of this fantastic program, once a week, concentrating on Respectful Relationships, Emotional Literacy, Visible Wellbeing and Positive School Wide Behaviours. Students particularly enjoyed learning about their character strengths through the online surveys.
Term 1 is a very busy term, with early testing PAT and NAPLAN (year 7s), interschool sports, including volleyball, cricket, tennis and swimming, new classes and teachers, voting and selection of SRC representatives at each year level, new Lunch Time Clubs and the resetting of expectations. We encourage all students to get involved with as many extracurricular activities as they can, to fully experience what Reservoir High School has to offer.
All Year 7 and 8 students received their lockers on the first day and are expected to keep them organised and clean. All students should now have a lock on their locker.
We are looking forward to a great year with all our Year 7 and Year 8 students and in particular we are looking forward to working closely with all parents, guardians and families during the year.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss your child’s progress please feel free to contact us at any time on 9466 0900.
