The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

Year 9 Advance

It was a pleasure to welcome William from the The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award to RHS, where he officially presented our licence to continue as a Duke of Ed Award Centre. This recognition ensures that our students can continue to access and participate in a program that promotes personal growth, resilience, and community engagement.

During his visit, William delivered an engaging and informative presentation to our students, outlining the key components of the Award, including the Service, Skill, and Physical Recreation sections, as well as the Adventurous Journey. He highlighted how the program supports students in developing confidence, independence, and valuable life skills that extend well beyond the classroom.

Our Year 9 Advance students were particularly inspired by William’s insights and real-world examples. His presentation helped them gain a clear understanding of what is involved in completing the Award, while also emphasising the many benefits, such as building leadership capabilities, strengthening teamwork, and enhancing future study and career opportunities.

The session sparked a great deal of enthusiasm, with students asking thoughtful questions and expressing genuine excitement about the journey ahead. It was evident that they are motivated and ready to embrace the challenges and rewards of completing their Duke of Ed in 2026.

We look forward to supporting our students throughout this experience and celebrating their achievements as they progress through the Award.
