News from Year 5/6
Reminder – Upper Yarra Secondary College Production
A reminder that our Year 5/6 students will be attending the Upper Yarra Secondary College production of Alice @ Wonderland next week on Wednesday, 5th August.
Students will travel by bus and enjoy this wonderful opportunity to experience a live theatrical performance while supporting our local secondary school. There will be a sausage sizzle provided by the College at intermission. We look forward to an entertaining morning and know our students will represent St Joseph's with pride.

Student News! Week 2-3

MLMC production
On Tuesday, I got dropped off at school and then went to Japanese. After 30 minutes of Japanese, we hopped on the bus and arrived at MLMC. Then we had a snack and went to watch the production. I thought it was good and then we went home.

When I woke up, I couldn't be bothered to get out of my bed, and when I woke up, I went to the kitchen, and I had Fruit Loops, and Mum made Mila's hair, and we went to the kitchen again to look at the letter, and it said Kade im so proud to welcome you to Upper Yarra Secondary College and I was so exited and i didnt believe it but when i went to school today and i told mis darwell and mis Urquhart and she told me some of my friend are coming and some are not so i was exited but im going to miss my fiends next year.

Next week, we will be going to see Alice @ Wonderland at UYSC. Yes, I said Alice @ Wonderland. It is an adaptation of the classical Alice in Wonderland. Along with most of the original challenges, Alice faces the internet, text language and social media. A tech savvy version of Alice dropped into Wonderland faces hilarious challenges from fun twists on classical characters, or, at least that’s what I’ve found! I’m personally very excited, with the prior experience of their two last plays, Puffs, and Firebringer in my mind, I’m very hyped to see what they do this year!

Last Friday we went on a nice trip to Lake Mountain for a snow trip. It was really fun, and I forgot my lunch, so I got chicken nuggets. We started by going tobogganing, and it was really fun, and I flipped over so many times. Then we had snow play, and I made a hugeeee snowball.
MLMC PETER & THE STAR CATCHER

On Tuesday, we all went to MLMC (Mount Lilydale Mercy College). We went there because we were watching a production called Peter and the Starcatcher that the high schoolers were doing. The play itself was pretty good. Everyone looked very in place and coordinated. On the downside, it was a really long play; it was so long we had to stop halfway for a break.
Snow Trip by Cooper
On Friday 24th July we went to the snow at Lake Mountain.
Firstly when we arrived there we had lunch inside. After lunch we went outside and went tobogganing which was fun.
I fell off a few times, some were on purpose and some were just accidents.

Upper yarra production - I'm really excited for the upper yarra production. Last year it was really good. Its name was Firebringer. It was good.
Snow Trip Maddi
On Friday I hopped on a bus and we went to the snow and it was cold. It was minus 5 degrees. We went bogging. It was fun but there were a lot of people there. It was busy so we had free time. Maddi and Joe made a big snowball and we also had a snowball fight then we hop back on the bus to go to Healesville.
Snow Trip parker v
On Friday, we had the snow trip, and I woke up at 7:30 and went to Healesville and arrived at 8:15. Then, at 8;30, we got on the bus and headed up to Lake Mountain witch ion the bus i sat at the very back with joe, kade, wil, and someone else that i dont remember we got there and unpacked our stuff and went in and had a little to eat then we went tobogganing for an hour. I stayed with Will, and we kept falling off the edge on purpose, and it hurt a lil cuz of the airtime, but ehh, and it was really bumpy as well. So we did that for a while, then we had lunch, then went for snow play me and Jayden made a massive snowball and we went in the bush as well, also the snowball fights. Then we headed back, got changed and went home.

Last friday the 24 of july some year 5/6s went to lake mountain to the snow when we got there we went to the area to put our bag and where we ate lunch we had some snacks like fruit snack and something else then we went to tobogganing then we got the sleds 🛷 we had to go on this escalator thing to get up to the tobogganing hill at the top and we had instructions of how to go down on you tobogganing i went down and i nearly crashed into 5 people we had an HOUR after the hour we had lunch i had a cheese and bacon roll and pringles. Then we went to snow play we walked for a little bit and found a perfect spot to play in the snow i brang elsa ooshie for the snow and i made her olof then we had a snow ball fight i hit mr foley that was for another hour and we had to go get our bags and went on the bus back home.
30/7/26 ⅚ Snow Trip Lake Mountain Quinn
Last week on Friday we had a snow trip we had to arrive behind a Coles at 8:15 I came 40-30 minutes early and waited in the car for a little then got out and people started arriving and then we went to the snow took an hour and twenty minutes then we ate our food after we did tobogganing i did a bump over an ice block covered in snow. It hurt and went over a snow bump and got 4 seconds of air time and almost ran over one of my friends then we ate our food again and did snow play and I got stuck in snow in bushes. It was almost at my knees. Luckily my friend helped me.And luckily it was one leg and after I ate a little snow, played and explored and then went home.

Tuesday
On Tuesday this week the 5/6 class went to the MLMC production, Peter and the Starcatcher. The play was a peter pan prequel. I thought that the play was good.
In the morning we got on the bus at about 9:00 and then left. I was sitting next to Parker H. The bus ride was good and then when we got there we had to walk up a LOT! of stairs. Then we walked to the shadsailes area, ate our fruit snack, and then walked into the theater.There was about 1 hour of watching, then there was an interval then more watching. After that we left to the bus and got on and left.
⅚ SNOW TRIP Amelia
On Friday, 24/7/26, 5/6m went to the snow trip up at Lake Mountain. I was sitting on the way there with Marlee and we were sitting up the front because Marlee gets bus sick.
When we got there we got off the bus, ate some food getting ready for the big day! Once we ate, we got our beanies on, gloves, and put on an extra layer of jacket since it was around -5 degrees to -10 degrees!!! It was freezinggggg! It started sort of sprinkling with snow once we got up there! It reminded me of winter wonderland!
Once we were all ready, we walked out of our little cabin part, we waited in line(the line was really quick) and we grabbed our toboggan and we got told what to do, we went up the conveyor belt after the instructions and we went on the big toboggan slope this time! Last time, we went on the small one….. It was still fun though! Lots of kids nearly wiped me out because they didn't listen to the instruction person… Everyone who got wiped out though was okay!!!

On Tuesday, the ⅚ class went to Mount Lilydale Mercy College for the production Peter and the Starcatcher. Peter and the Starcatcher is a prequel of Peter Pan and you find out how he gets his name. Basically in the start he has no name but then he goes on a giant adventure and finally gets the name in the end Peter Pan.

Snow Trip
On friday we went to the snow, and while we were going to the snow it was just loud like loud. But that ended soon because we were there. And as soon as I stepped outside it was so cold I think it was minus five degrees, but there was snow on the outside of the bus and i touched it with my bear hand and it was so cold I regret it. But first we had our lunch and we had tobogganing and there was little snow flakes falling and there was a bumpy spot and everyone hit it and that was my favourite part.
Arlo - Snow Trip
We started going up the mountain top we got out of the bus it was so cold we had to go put our bags in this room for lunch and stuff. The first activity we did was sledding so we went to grab our sled and then got told the rules then we went on this like escalator thing but gets your up to the top of the hill when i got up i went to the first opening i saw and then went i was going so fast but the snow was flying up in my face i also flipped a couple a times next time going down the hill i kinda went off the side of the hill and hit a big ball of snow but it felt like a rock yeah that hurts we started seeing tons of snow.

Last week our class went on the lake mountain snow trip. First we all met in Healesville then we all got on the bus . There was a TV screen in the bus and it played ice age . When we got there it got so cold from the moment I stepped out of the bus. We went into this huge building where we ate lunch and changed into our snow gear...

I got to Healesville at around 8:15 for the snow trip. After some waiting we got on the bus and started going to Lake Mountain. After some driving, we started to see some snow and when we got off the bus, it was freezing! I left my gloves and beanie in my bag so when we got to the area we would be eating. After having some food, we headed down to the tobogganing and it was so much fun. There was also a bump on the right side and you would either lose all of your speed or you would go really high. Then we headed over to the snow play where I made a massive snowball until I couldn't move it anymore. It was really fun.
MLMC Production-Peter And The Starcatcher-by Parker H
On Tuesday 28/7/26 the ⅚ class went to Mount Lilydale Mercy Collage first we had to do Japanese till 9:35. After we got onto the bus and headed off to MLMC to watch the production after we got there we climbed up the stairs and headed up to the play. The play was really good, my favorite characters were the pineapple prop, Peter,Ted, and the guy who controlled the parrot and stubbed his toe.
