Readiness to Learn Plans
Last week, our class created our very own Readiness to Learn Plans. Together, we explored the different emotions and behaviours we experience throughout the day and identified four stages, ranging from feeling overwhelmed and "not ready to learn" through to feeling calm, focused, and "so ready to learn!"
These plans will become a valuable tool in our classroom, helping students recognise their feelings, and choose strategies that support their learning.
Mathematics
We have wrapped up our learning on 2D shapes and have now begun exploring multiplication and division.
We started by building confidence with doubles, then challenged ourselves with doubles, doubles and even doubles, doubles, doubles!
We have also been really enjoying our daily fluency practice. This is such a great way to develop our efficiency and accuracy with mathematical skills.
Religion
In Religion, we have been learning about our gifts and talents. We discussed the difference between natural talents and the special gifts that make each of us unique. Students enjoyed sharing their own strengths with their classmates and celebrating the wonderful qualities we all bring to our classroom community.
Inquiry
Our Inquiry learning has focused on basic animal needs. Using books and safe online resources, students researched what animals need to survive, including food, water, air, and shelter. We also had some thoughtful discussions about the difference between needs and wants.
Literacy
This week in Literacy, we continued to develop our handwriting skills using a new interactive classroom tool. Students were able to practice rewriting letters and numbers on the board, allowing them to see their letter formation in real time and make corrections as they worked. It has been a fantastic way to build confidence, improve handwriting, and encourage students to take pride in their work.
Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL)
Kindness is always required in 1/2f!
This week, we began creating a Kindness Tree in our classroom. Every time we notice an act of kindness between classmates, we add a new leaf to our tree. Whether it's helping a friend, using kind words, or showing empathy, each act of kindness helps our tree grow.
The Kindness Tree is a wonderful visual reminder that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a big difference.
Thanks,
Tilly:)
