INDONESIA TOUR 2024

EXPLORING INDONESIA

Our journey through Indonesia offered us a deep dive into its culture, stunning landscapes, and rich biodiversity. From traditional dances to boat adventures, each experience provided a unique glimpse into the heart of the country. Whether we were learning the movements of traditional dance, or exploring the diverse ecosystems of Labuan Bajo, every moment was a reminder of Indonesia’s culture and natural wealth. This trip allowed us not only to witness the beauty of the land but also to immerse ourselves into the traditions and experiences that shape Indonesia’s identity.

Whilst we were in Indonesia, we had the opportunity to learn about the country’s rich culture through traditional dancing, music and language. We immersed ourselves into the movements of traditional dancing and also got to wear the full costumes. Not only did we participate in dancing, music, and language, but we were lucky enough to watch the traditional storytelling Kecak dance at Uluwatu. We also had the opportunity to explore the temple at sunset which made the experience even more memorable. This experience not only enriched our understanding of Indonesian traditions but also gave us a deep appreciation for its artistic expressions and the stories they tell. We learnt many things that day, including the discovery the natural beauty which is displayed within Bahasa Indonesia.

Visiting the Monkey Forest was a lively experience for all, that left us amused and intrigued. As we walked through their habitat and ancient trees, we were surrounded by playful monkeys swinging from branch to branch and curiously approaching visitors. Their mischievous behaviours went from grooming each other to eating snacks, which provides endless entertainment for all. We learnt about the forest’s role for the monkeys, and the importance of conservation efforts to protect their beautiful habitat. Observing monkeys in their natural environment was not only a fun experience, but also a reminder of the rich biodiversity that Indonesia has to offer. The playful interactions and the calming atmosphere of the forest made it a memorable highlight for everyone.

In Labuan Bajo, our boat adventure was a highlight of the trip that was filled with immensely breathtaking views. Our day started with a hike at Padar Island. When we finally reached the top, we witnessed the sight of the iconic crescent beaches, with the contrasting shades of white sands and deep blue water, which was nothing short of magical. Despite the rocky way up the view made every once worth it. Next up was snorkelling to see the beautiful coral gardens of Pink Beach, famous for its unique rose-hued sands, where we relaxed and snorkelled over the corals to take in the peaceful beauty of our surroundings. We ended the boat day with once again snorkelling, but this time, we were thrilled to spot sea turtles gliding through the deep blue water and corals, not only that but also majestic manta rays swimming gracefully beneath us. The combination of snorkelling, beach time, and hiking made this boat trip an unforgettable adventure, and am super grateful that I have been exposed to Indonesia’s incredible marine diversity and earthly ecosystems.

Our time in Indonesia was once again, truly unforgettable, filled with enriching experiences that deepened our understanding of the country’s culture and natural wonders. From the interaction with the Monkeys in their lush forest habitat to breathtaking views everywhere we went, each day revealed a new aspect of Indonesia’s beautiful diversity. Whether that’s through arts, nature, or adventure, we came away from this trip with a deep appreciation for the beauty and spirit that Indonesian’s have. This journey left us not only with cherished memories but also with a lasting connection with the beautiful peers and teachers we were lucky enough to embark this journey with.
