UPDATE TO SPORT @ MESC
Upon the completion of our district carnivals this year, it has officially been a massive year for MESC on the sporting field. As I mentioned at our most recent assembly, I would like to thank staff, parents/guardians and all those who have supported the sport program this year. It feels like a lifetime ago we were preparing for our swimming carnival, but upon completion it makes me very proud to say that once again we have had a record number of participants across the year in sport.
Although our district days are now finished – we are still having success out in the regional tournaments. This term we have seen seven teams out to regionals and some individual athletes at the SMR track and field meet. I would like to congratulate Harry Yr10 for winning through regionals and competing at the state championships in one of the blue-ribbon events in the 200m sprint. Harry is always someone who shows intensity and competitiveness no matter the contest so there is no surprise to see you having so much success on the sporting field – congratulations.
Our other students who competed at the SMR athletics championship were:
Lily Yr9
Jacquille Yr10
Maddie Yr7
Jack Yr7
Lara Yr8 (still competing above her age and coming second despite fresh off injury!)
Flynn Yr7
Olivia Yr7
Mitchell Yr9
John Magoulias Yr9
Elliot Yr7
Eloise Yr7
Ayla-May Yr7
Lewis Yr12
Farrah Yr7
Congratulations to all of the students listed on your efforts at such a high-quality event. My last message of the year is always one of hope and positiveness but it’s hard to imagine it being any other way after such a wonderful year. Our students have always echoed our message that our school values are to extend onto the sporting field. This has given us a great reputation with referee’s, conveners and other staff. Success has been something we are very proud of, but it will always be the way we carry ourselves and how this reflects the values of the MESC that we focus on more than anything else.
Congratulations to all of those either as a team or individual for representing MESC so well throughout the year, we look forward to another big year in 2025.
Thanks again for all of your support,
Marcus Roberts and Lachlan Williams – Sport Coordinators
