CONGRATULATIONS Class of 2024! While there are a few VCAA exams to go, I would like to congratulate and wish our year 12 students well. Our Vocational Major students are well on their way to seeking employment whether it be a full-time apprenticeship, traineeship or full-time work. Together with the support of their dedicated teachers they have readily accepted the new VCE VM course gaining many skills and insight required for the workforce. For our VCE students, they have decisions to make in coming months on Tertiary, TAFE or workforce pathways. Whichever path is decided upon, we are proud that you have given your all and can’t wait to hear what life will bring.

During the Curriculum Day, our teachers dedicated hours to developing curriculum for 2025. With a modification to the curriculum F-10 auditing and sequencing learning has been a priority.

“The Victorian Curriculum F-10 Version 2.0 (Version 2.0) gives Victoria's students the best opportunity to thrive in a world of increasing change and rapid technological advancement. It reflects the expertise and feedback of Victorian teachers, making it easier for them to plan, assess and report on student learning.

The overarching structure of Version 2.0 has not changed from Victorian Curriculum F-10 Version 1.0, with the learning areas, capabilities and cross-curriculum priorities remaining the same. This recognises the continuing importance of a discipline-based approach to learning, where learning areas are regarded as both enduring and dynamic, supported by clearly articulated capabilities and cross-curriculum perspectives.” Achper.vic.edu.au

Unfortunately, the college is no longer in a place where we can continue to financially support the teaching and learning resources 7-10. Communication will be coming home regarding booklists for next year. As our focus of ‘READY TO LEARN continues in 2025, please ensure your student/s have everything they require to complete their outcomes successfully. Should you require support in attaining resources, please do not hesitate to reach out to our Business Manager, Brenda Barker. We want every student to have what they need to be READY TO LEARN from day 1.

2024 final assessments and reporting will be coming home to parents/carers in the coming month. Students place a lot of effort in completing this work and teachers use many forms of data observed and collected to make a professional judgement of what standard students are working at. Please take the time to check COMPASS for CATs/SACs and Progress Reports to gain an insight into this ‘whole’ picture as the semester reports are a summation of this.

The next month is going to be full of excitement and challenge for your student/s. Exams, final assessments, finding out new subjects, classes and teachers for 2025, Leadership opportunities and interviews plus working out what they are going to buy/make their AMAZING parents/carers for Christmas!
