Principal's Report

Dear SEPS Families,

This week we celebrate one of my favourite weeks in the school year – BOOK WEEK!

As always, the Book Parade did not fail to impress. It was lovely to celebrate the day with so many of our grandparents and special friends. The creative effort that goes into the costumes is amazing. How can anyone not love reading just that little bit more when so many great characters are bought to life!

Pizza & Planes

What a night! We were blown away by the number of RSVPs for our Pizza & Planes event last week with over 80 dads and 115 children joining in the fun. A huge thank you to Ms Parsons and her mum and dad, for picking up and delivering a second round of pizzas when we realised that they were being consumed a rapid rate! From all accounts, it was good pizza! We had some very good entries in the paper plane competition. I had concerns that someone was going to sustain an injury from the number of planes swirling around the gym. Congratulations to our paper plane pilot of the year, Billy G!

Year 4 Camp

Congratulations to our Year 4 students for demonstrating all of our school values while they were away on camp last week. I had fantastic feedback on how beautiful our students manners were, how respectful they were of the camp facilities and staff and how much resilience they showed in attempting all of the challenges that were set for them. The very first camp is always filled with a mix of excitement and a little trepidation, but they handled it like troopers! We are very proud!

Parent/Carer Opinion Survey

The survey is now open. Thank you to the 24 families who have already completed it. Only 300 more families to go! We can do it!! I dislike having to fill in surveys as much as the next person, but this one really does have an impact on our strategic plan and key improvement strategies. We thank you in advance for working with us to complete the survey. It is important that we fully understand the needs of our whole school community and your insight is invaluable. Please see Compass for full details that I sent out earlier this week.

Dad's Footy

Wishing our dad's footy team all the best when they verse Sandringham PS on Saturday, 6 September. If you would like to pop down and cheer them on, the game starts at 1:30 pm and will be played on the Shane Warne Oval, Duncan St, Sandringham. I am hoping they all pull up ok for Fathers Day.

We look forward to seeing all of our dads, stepdads, grandfathers and special people at the Fathers Day Breakfast next week and hoping you all get to celebrate loved ones on Sunday, 7th.

Have a great fortnight ahead, everyone.

Jane Briffa
