Netball
The WORLD Courts were a hive of activity, with 23 teams playing from across East Gippsland Secondary Schools. Netball is without a doubt, one of the most disciplined sports that appeals to such a large population of our community. With the odd wins to most of our teams, our crew were not fortunate enough to progress any further. It was, however, great to see our teams having such a great experience with the other schools. Thank you to all students and staff who scored, umpired and helped run a very successful competition.
Soccer
A fun day was had at the West Bairnsdale Soccer pitch, with Nagle, Mallacoota and BSC competing one another during the day. There were plenty of entertaining celebrations performed by goal scorers on the day, supported by their enthusiastic team members. We were successful in the Year 7 and Senior teams, winning matches to progress through to the regional competitions.
Badminton
With months of training paying off, our Year 7 and Intermediate boys, Year 8 Intermediate and Senior girls teams all won their way through to compete at regional competitions next week. It was noted by staff that this competition was played in such high spirits and camaraderie making it a great day out for all involved.
Gippsland Cross Country
Drouin Golf Club hosted the regional event in what was threatening to be a very wet day, only to have a couple of showers late in the program. 19 BSC students braved the cold conditions to run the 3km course in thick, muddy grass. All our students gave it their best with many surprising themselves on their efforts. Congratulations to Hugh, who won the Year 7 boys’ race and Hayden who also qualified for state level with a commendable 9th in the 16-year boys’ race.
East Gippsland Senior Basketball
A tight contest was fought out between Nagle and BSC senior boys on Tuesday held in the BARC. The 2 teams were very evenly matched, with scores swinging either way by only a few points throughout the game. With a few minutes left on the clock, our lead started to diminish, finishing up just short by 4 points – 53 to 57. The group were praised for their sportsmanship and values to school sports, well done boys.
East Gippsland Senior Hockey
Congratulations to the Hockey team who are progressing to regional level and attempting to make it to state level for a 3rd year in a row. It was great to have a hit out with Nagle and start tying this team together, well done BSC.
