Reconciliation Week Cup 2024 Winner!

Congratulations to Walton House on Winning the Reconciliation Cup!

We are thrilled to announce that Walton House has triumphed in the Reconciliation Cup!

This year's tournament, organised by the PE department, introduced the exciting game of Keentan to our school. Keentan, an indigenous game similar to keep-away, has traditionally been played in the northwest central districts of Queensland. The Kalkadoon people affectionately referred to it as the ‘kangaroo-play’ because players' jumps to catch the ball resemble the movements of a kangaroo.

Walton House showcased outstanding skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. Their dedication and enthusiasm for this culturally significant game were truly inspiring.

We are proud to announce that this tournament marks the beginning of a new tradition for our school. The Reconciliation Cup will become an annual event, celebrating and honoring the rich cultural heritage of indigenous games like Keentan.

Congratulations to Walton House for your remarkable achievement and for setting a high standard for future competitions. Well done!
