YEAR 10 VET APPLICATIONS

We have had a number of students and parents ask when they will find out if they have an offer for their chosen VET courses. Some institutes have started sending out offers, however most offers are not completed until mid to late Term 4. You may find that someone you know gets an offer and you don’t (or haven’t yet). This could be because of the timing of applications received or sent and training organisations will get back to us sometime during Term 4, if you have not received a place at all. As applications will be randomly arriving between now and the end of Term 4, students should get into the habit of regularly checking their school and personal emails and respond to any emails from training providers. Failure to respond or send in documentation in on time will forfeit your place to someone on a waitlist.

Box Hill Applicants Note:

In particular, Box Hill Institute advises that they are still looking through offers and whilst they promised to send out offers at the start of this term, they still haven’t. We are currently meeting with students we know have not gained a place to see if there are other suitable alternatives. If you do not get a place in any VET course, an appointment will be made for you to discuss further options. Parents will also be notified by email or phone.

YEAR 10

NEW DIGITAL WORK EXPERIENCE AND STRUCTURED WORKPLACE LEARNING FORM

Work experience and structured workplace learning are an important part of our career education program at Lilydale Heights College. It helps students to explore potential jobs, understand workplace expectations and make informed education and career choices. Our school has introduced a new digital work experience and structured workplace learning form to simplify the process and save you time. It replaces the paper form we’ve used previously. You and your child can fill out and sign the form online at your convenience from a mobile phone or computer. Digital work experience forms will be securely stored and handled in compliance with records management policies and Victorian privacy laws.

Process for digital forms

A digital form will be created when a work placement has been organised for your child.
Once the placement details have been completed by the student, and if your child is under 18, parent/guardians will receive an email with a link to review and sign the form.
A quick reference guide can be sent to students to explain the process.
If your child is under 18, a copy of the completed form will be emailed to you for your records.

Many thanks for supporting our work experience program. We are looking forward to an exciting year of work experience opportunities for all our students. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you require any further assistance at -

Post-UCAT Advice, Medical Interviews & University Applications

The official UCAT ANZ 2026 percentiles have now been released, giving students a much clearer indication of how they performed this year. Many students and parents now have questions about what their UCAT score means, whether it is competitive, which universities they should consider applying to, and how to prepare for upcoming medical and dental interviews. NIE's free information webinar will address these questions and provide practical guidance on the next stages of the medical and dental entry process. Students, parents and teachers are welcome to join.

MONASH UNIVERSITY

New Pharmacy Program

In 2027 we are introducing a Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours)/Doctor of Pharmacy.

The course addresses the expanding scope of practice for modern pharmacists and aligns with the Pharmacy Board of Australia’s updated entry-to-practice capabilities. It is an Extended Master’s model (it's NOT a doctoral program) and ensures our graduates remain highly competitive both in Australia and globally. Furthermore, it still allows students to graduate within five years - the time it takes to register as a pharmacist in Australia - including undertaking paid supervised practice.

RMIT UNIVERSITY

RMIT is proud to be the largest dual sector institution in the country, and we have a dedicated website to help students map out a journey into their desired course even if they were not able to achieve the ATAR or study score requirements needed for higher education. https://www.rmit.edu.au/study-with-us/pathways
