Culturally Safe QUIT Support
Quitline offers free, culturally focussed support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who want to quit smoking or vaping. When you call 13 78 48 and ask for a counsellor for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, you’ll be connected with trained Quitline staff who bring cultural understanding, yarning and respect into every conversation. They can help you talk through your goals, build a quit plan that works for you and support you at your pace, with no pressure to quit before you’re ready. Support is offered in a way that respects traditions like Men’s and Women’s Business, and you can choose to speak with a counsellor of the gender you’re most comfortable with. The same counsellor will stay with you through your quitting journey, so you have continuity and trust in your support.
There are a few ways to connect:
Call Quitline on 13 78 48 and ask for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander support.
Request a callback online if you want someone to ring you back.
Ask your GP, Aboriginal health service or community health worker to refer you for support.
Quitline support is free, confidential and culturally safe, helping mob quit smoking or vaping in a way that fits with community, culture and strengths.
