Bicycles for Humanity

The College had some older bikes stored in a shed that were no longer being used since the arrival of our amazing new bikes. Rather than let them go to waste, we wanted to give them a second life!    Hands on Learning reached out to Bicycles for Humanity, a global grassroots movement that collects second-hand bikes and ships them in containers holding around 450 bikes each. These containers are then transformed into local Bicycle Empowerment Centres (BECs), providing valuable repair jobs and access to sustainable transport. Local chapters, such as Bicycles for Humanity Melbourne, have already delivered more than 40 containers to communities in places like Namibia.    We were thrilled to support this incredible initiative, helping provide bikes to communities in need while giving our old bikes a new purpose. It’s a wonderful way to make a positive difference, support sustainable transport and ensure nothing goes to waste!
