YEAR 12 FRENCH BAKERY EXCURSION
Last week, our Year 12 French class had an exciting bakery excursion at Artisanal Bakehouse that brought French culture to life for our students. The highlight was ordering their favourite pastries entirely in French, which tested their language skills.
After ordering, students enjoyed authentic French delicacies like croissants and pain au chocolat, appreciating the unique flavours and cultural significance. A Q&A session with the two French bakers David and Baptiste added to the experience, with students learning about the art and dedication involved in traditional French baking.
YEARS 7 TO 10 BERTHE MOUCHETTE COMPETITION
Bonjour!
On Wednesday 22 May, students from across various year levels competed in a French program known as the Berthe Mouchette competition. Years 7 to 10 students recited French poems, while the VCE students will embark on conversational theory with their examiner. Additionally, there will be written exams taking place for VCE students, and anybody who wants a taste of what a VCE French exam might be like!
We applaud Mr Chamontin, Mme Howard, Matron Gibert-Howard and all of the French teachers for organising this wonderful opportunity.

GERMAN FILM FESTIVAL EXCURSION
On Friday 17 May, two Year 9 German classes attended a special schools screening for the 2024 German Film Festival at Cinema Como in South Yarra. We watched an action-packed teen flick entitled ‘Skater Girls’.
Everybody enjoyed the luxurious decor of the cinema whilst snacking on popcorn and being immersed in the modern subculture of skateboarding in Germany. This was a great linguistic and cultural experience and hopefully encouraged students to seek out other German films and promote the festival to family and friends.
