School Council Update 

School Council Update Feb 2026

Welcome to the first edition of the Le Page Primary School Council update for 2026. 

Just a reminder that this update aims to create an open line of communication with School Council and the important work it does for the growth, promotion and development of our school. School Council’s role is to make decisions that set our school’s direction and ensures the school is run with the best interest of all our students. 

What was on our Agenda. 

Appointment of the new Council and the Office Bearer positions. (see below)

School Bonus

Discussed and approved all finance motions. We looked at the best way to inform, manage and transact last year’s school bonus money as a future credit. More communication to come on this one. 

Gould League

Further discussion was had on the proposed Gould League building placement and moving out of the schools main building. The Gould League continue to ask for more land and School Council is given no opportunity to push back. Last year we were told works would occur in the break between term 1 and 2. With only 5 weeks to go until term break this is highly unlikely to occur. This matter is becoming very challenging for our school community. 

Victorian Challenge and Enrichment

Series years 3 & 4 as well as Victorian High Ability Program and the Sir John Monash Science Outreach program are great programs offered to our students again this year. Well done to these students embarking on these programs. 

Maintenance

Electrical works required in the BER building, further fire hydrant works required, removal on the sand pit. Sand pit replacement, we will commence discussions as to what can be replaced in this area as a future project. 

Standing Orders

Agreed to amend the School Council Standing Order, an application will be made to the Dept. Ed. Adding another parent position onto Council.

Staff - Madeleine Simos (Secretary), Courtney Mason (Vice Principal), George Danson (Principal) 

Parents - Belinda Griffiths (President), Sasha Buis (Vice President), David Jobson (Treasurer), Renate Axford (Social & Fundraising), Alina Bakham & Judith Preston (Parents)

2026 Council meeting dates: 

Tuesday’s 24 March, 19 May, 23 June, 4 Aug, 15 Sept, 27 Oct, 24 Nov (we are in discussion around changing our meeting date to a Monday night)
