What have we been up to?

We have well and truly settled into year two! We have been busy learning new things, creating friendships and building our classroom routines! It has been so lovely to see their independence and confidence grow already!

Leader in Me Lessons

Our leader In me sessions have been facilitated by Ms Telegin. She has been guiding the students through understanding each habit and how we can use them in our personal and school life.

In Literacy, we have a range of lessons that support the growth of each student's literacy learning. This includes; Phonics, Write 2 learn, Fluency, Handwriting and Literacy (Reading). This term, our Reading focus is adventure narratives through a mix of wonderful picture story books. So far, we have read ‘Alfie’s search for destiny’ and ‘Sam’s bush journey’ This term in phonics, we will be focusing on:

In Maths, we have just finished our place value unit, exploring hundreds, tens and ones. We have learnt how to order numbers from smallest to largest, placing them on number lines.

We are now beginning our new maths unit of time. We will learn how to read an analogue clock to tell the time.

In Inquiry, we are learning about our Earth and its resources and how we can look after it. So far, we have focused on recycling and where our rubbish can go. We discussed how we can do this both at home and at school!

Please don’t forget to bring in your hats and water bottles in term 1 and 4 as we have had and will be having more hot days.
We are beginning to send take-home readers each week. Your child will not be able to take home a book without a reading satchel. If your child does not have one, please reach out to your classroom teacher.
