Dear Families,
The past two weeks have been busy and productive at Le Page Primary School, with students engaged in rich learning experiences and staff continuing their commitment to professional growth and reflection. It has been wonderful to see our students demonstrating leadership, perseverance and curiosity in their learning.
As we approach the long weekend, please remember that tomorrow is a Curriculum Day and Monday is Labour Day, so there will be no school for students on both days. We hope our families enjoy the opportunity to rest, recharge and spend time together. We wish everyone in our community a safe and enjoyable long weekend.
Leader in Me - Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind
This week our staff have been revisiting Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind as part of our ongoing commitment to The Leader in Me. Habit 2 encourages us to think carefully about our goals, values and purpose, and to consider the destination before beginning the journey.
Through professional dialogue and reflection, staff have been studying this habit together and many have shared how the process has brought a renewal of the concept and greater clarity of their paradigms. Taking time to reflect on the “end in mind” allows us to align our teaching, decision-making and interactions with the outcomes we hope to achieve for our students. At Le Page, our end in mind remains clear: to identify the talent, develop the confidence and create the leader in every student.
Chicken Coop Safety Improvements
Our chickens continue to be a wonderful part of our learning environment, and we remain committed to ensuring their safety and well-being. Over the past fortnight, the chicken coop has been checked and rewired to ensure that the enclosure continues to operate safely and effectively. In addition, multiple fox repellent devices have been installed around the coop area to provide an added level of protection for our feathered friends. Thank you to the staff and community members who help care for this special part of our school.
John Monash Science School Program
This week marked the final session of the High Achievers Program with John Monash Maths and Science School. Our participating students have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to extend their thinking and challenge themselves in new ways. Throughout the program, students engaged in complex and challenging problem-solving experiments and activities that encouraged them to think critically, collaborate with others and apply advanced mathematical and scientific reasoning. We are incredibly proud of how these students embraced the opportunity and represented our school so well.
Swimming Carnival Fun
This week several of our students proudly represented Le Page Primary School at the local Swimming Carnival. It was fantastic to see our swimmers demonstrate determination and resilience as they competed against students from other schools across a range of events. Our students showed great courage in stepping up to the challenge and giving their best in the pool. Whether they were racing for a place or cheering on their teammates, they represented the school with pride and enthusiasm. Experiences like these help students develop confidence, perseverance and a sense of belonging through sport. We congratulate all of the students who participated and thank the staff who supported them on the day.
Student Attendance and Punctuality
At Le Page Primary School we know that every minute of learning counts. When students attend school regularly and arrive on time, they are better able to build strong routines, remain connected to their learning, and fully participate in classroom experiences. Over the coming year, staff will be implementing a strategic focus on improving student attendance and punctuality. This approach will include clear communication with families, classroom discussions about the importance of being at school every day, and the introduction of positive incentives and recognition for classes and students who demonstrate strong attendance and punctuality. Our goal is to maximise valuable learning time for every student, ensuring that all children have the best opportunity to grow academically, socially and emotionally. We appreciate the continued support of families in helping students arrive at school on time and ready to learn each day.
NAPLAN
Next week our Year 3 and Year 5 students will begin NAPLAN assessments. Our students have been preparing well and understand that NAPLAN is simply an opportunity to demonstrate what they know and can do. We encourage them to approach the assessments with confidence, do their best, and remember that effort and persistence are what truly matter. We are proud of the positive attitude our students have shown as they approach these assessments.
Begin with the end in mind.

Wishing You a Great Long Weekend
With Curriculum Day tomorrow and Labour Day on Monday, we hope our families enjoy a well-deserved long weekend. We look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready for another exciting week of learning.
