The Little Mermaid Jr
On March 1st, the first Sunday rehearsal kicked off our 2026 School Production of ‘The Little Mermaid Jr’.
There were 46 students in attendance from Years 7 to 12 (pictured above). It was so wonderful to see students so enthusiastic to meet new people, whether it is their first time participating or for some, their 6th show with BHS.
No time was wasted with choreography for multiple numbers taking shape. Students Lily Marshal, Matilda West, Zillah Linguey and Hannah Elliot should be proud of the extra effort they put into developing choreography for the show and it is their dedication that led to some really charming moments being created already.
Miss Tyler was also impressed with some of the vocal strength coming through, we have a talented Community at Ballarat High!
This show is already proving to be tonnes of fun. If students signed up to join the production, these Sunday rehearsals should now be showing up on their compass - please contact Jess Quick (jessica.quick@education.vic.gov.au) if they aren’t .
We look forward to seeing you at the next Sunday rehearsal on March 15th, 10am-1pm.

Robot Song
On February 20th, the Year 10 and VCE drama classes went on an excursion to a performance of ‘Robot Song’ in Melbourne. The performance was a short musical looking at neurodivergence and accepting differences. My favourite scene was the part I connected to the most. - A scene where the main character, Juniper, was repeating back to herself the number of times she said “shut up”. Something she isn’t supposed to say.
After the performance, we were permitted an hour to walk down Acland Street, St Kilda and get lunch. We did a little birdwatching in a garden beside Luna Park before getting back on the bus and writing notes on the way back. The show was a great spectacle and well presented.
