VCE Folio and Industry Intensive

Students enrolled in Art Making and Exhibiting Unit 1, attended an excursion at the Art Gallery of Ballarat on Thursday 26th February. This excursion focused on understanding the role of the gallery and of the artists when creating, planning and showcasing an exhibition.
Current students had the chance to see the work of our region's up-and-coming artists. Students visited Backspace Gallery (Mair Street) to see the Next Gen exhibition. Next Gen is a staple on the arts calendar in Ballarat where Year 12 students from the previous academic year are selected from across Western Victoria for their outstanding work within The Arts. There were four Ballarat High School students selected for this prestigious event and our current cohort were able to appreciate the dedication and creativity shown by their former colleagues.
Students had the unique opportunity to see the winning visual art journals as well. This experience was fundamental to see the work behind the scenes. Each artistic decision made by artists as they work towards their final artworks is shown through their studio process within their visual arts journal.
We also had the opportunity to see two outdoor sculptural installations and engage in visual arts within the 'real-world'.
Students represented the school in such a positive manner. They showed respect, asked questions, engaged in the learning and brought their ideas back into their own studio process.
