NAPLAN 2026

Parents of all Year 7 and Year 9 stduents

The National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) begins next week on March 11th for students at Ballarat High School. This program is an annual assessment that measures the literacy and numeracy skills of students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 across Australia.

NAPLAN is a crucial tool for collecting data on the performance of students in these key subject areas. This data is then used by us as teachers, to identify areas where students may need additional support and to improve our teaching practices and curriculum.

It is important to note that NAPLAN is not a pass or fail test and there is no need for students to feel anxious or stressed about it. The results of the assessment are used to improve educational outcomes for students and provide valuable insights into how we can better support their learning.

As a parent, you can support your child during this time by encouraging them to do their best and reassuring them that their performance on NAPLAN does not define their intelligence or worth. You can also help by ensuring they get a good nights sleep and bring a charged laptop/device to school every day.

We appreciate your support in helping us make NAPLAN a valuable tool for improving educational outcomes for our students. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us.
