Year 7 Camp

Mr Nicholas Heading

Year 7 Camp was the perfect way to end an exciting first term for GC’s 2026 Year 7s! We were blessed with perfect weather and had a blast. Seeing students make so many happy memories with their new schoolmates is a wonderful thing.

Our students completed lots of different activities during our adventure: bowling, laser tag, surfing, exploring the heritage farm on Churchill island (including a milking and shearing demonstration. Some were brave enough to try milking the cow themselves!), competing in table tennis tournaments, rock climbing, checking out the Chocolate Factory, and making lots of memories. Camp is a great opportunity to get to know your fellow students better, and it was nice to see students spending time together outside of their homegroups.

Our students represented themselves and the College well. The staff at the accommodation and the caterers commented on how wonderful, polite, and friendly our students were. Teachers were full of praise for our Year 7s on camp, including noticing how much they were willing to support one another when feeling homesick or nervous.

It is a significant accomplishment to complete your first term of high school. It is a time of such change, adjustment, and learning; I hope that each and every student has reflected on how far they’ve come in such a short time as they have started their high school journey!
