High Expectations and Positive Culture at Greensborough College

As we move further into the colder months, we would like to thank our students and families for their ongoing support in maintaining the high standards and positive culture of Greensborough College. A strong school culture is built through consistent expectations, positive relationships and a shared commitment to our college values of Courage, Aspiration, Respect and Equality.

School Uniform

With colder weather arriving, we have seen an increase in students wearing non-uniform items including hoodies, visible undershirts and non-uniform jackets. We understand that students want to stay warm and comfortable throughout the day. Greensborough College has a range of warm approved uniform items available, including the rugby top, soft shell jacket and school jumpers. We ask families to support the college by ensuring students attend school in full and correct uniform each day. Consistent uniform expectations help promote pride, belonging and a calm learning environment for all students.

Appropriate Use of Laptops

Student laptops are an important learning tool and are expected to be used appropriately throughout the school day. Recently, we have had concerns regarding students playing games during class time rather than engaging with their learning. We are taking a firm approach to this issue as it has a direct impact on learning, focus and classroom culture.

Families can greatly assist by having conversations at home about responsible laptop use and the importance of remaining focused during lessons. We appreciate the support of parents and carers in reinforcing that school devices are for educational purposes during class time.

SWPBS and College Values

Our School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) framework continues to play a central role in building a positive, safe and supportive learning environment. At Greensborough College, we aim to explicitly teach and reinforce positive behaviours through clear expectations, positive relationships and consistent responses. We are proud of the way many students demonstrate our college values of Courage, Aspiration, Respect and Equality each day through their learning, behaviour and contributions to the school community.

Merit Exchange Fridays

Students are reminded that our Merit Cabinet is open every Friday for students to exchange their positive behaviour merits for rewards. Students can use their merits on a range of items including video game gift cards, canteen vouchers, drink bottles, snacks, Officeworks vouchers, stationery and downballs. The Merit Exchange is a great way to celebrate students who consistently demonstrate positive behaviours and contribute positively to the college community.
