This term has seen a change or two in our Library.  It is wonderful to see our students off their devices at recess and lunch.  This had been a challenge in the past but, as this is a school wide instruction, I can see the real benefits.  Students just ‘being’ with one another, talking, laughing, playing games, reading – beautiful human interaction.

The Library is no longer opening at Recess but all other times remain the same.  The boundaries around expectations and behaviour have been set.  I have to say I am so impressed with how our regular Library users are respecting and adhering to this change.  Thank you.  I have always maintained we are not a 'silent' Library however as noise levels had continued to increase I am now finding myself using the “shh” sound more often than I have in the past. Our lovely space needs to exist for everyone.

Two Year 11 Product Design and Technology students, Harlee Palmer and Elijah Fitzgerald, have produced a beautiful bespoke Chess Board for the Library.

With such a lovely piece made for the Library I was able to purchase a Chess set featuring Robin Hood and his band of followers, opposing the Sheriff of Nottingham. A special mention to Mr Tony Flavel who inspired and assisted Elijah and Harlee.

Last week we celebrated IDAHOBIT here in the Library, an annual recognition of our inclusive culture that welcomes and respects every human, every identity, every culture and every gender.  The theme this year, via the World Health Organisation is, “At the heart of Democracy.”
