A Word from Justin

Term 3, Week 2 - Friday 24th July, 2026 

Dear Families of OLSC,  

 

The first 2 weeks of Term 3 have certainly flown by.  We are all looking forward to term 3 and the many events and learning ahead.  Two significant events are the Yr 4 Camp to the city and the Year 6 Camp to Sovereign Hill.  

Senior Girls Hockey - Well Done!! 

On Tuesday this week (July 22nd) some of our senior girls represented our school at the Hockey divisionals.  They were very impressive and have now progressed to the Western Metro Finals which will take place on 17th August, 2026 at Footscray Hockey Club.  Congratulations girls and well done. 

 

MacKillop College Information Evening - Year 7, 2028

Parents and guardians of current Year 5 students are warmly invited to attend MacKillop College’s Information Evening on Wednesday, 29 July at 7:30 pm in the Moreno Performing Arts Centre.  If parents require any further information, please contact the college enrolment office on on 8734 5200.

Congratulations Lucy 

Well done and congratulations to Lucy on being acknowledged at the School Crossing Supervisor of the Year Awards (SCOTYA).   Well deserved recognition and thank you from all us!  OLSC's very own community member Lori also placed a finalist - well done Lori.

Confirmation Mass is soon

On Saturday the 8th of August MacKillop College will host 2 significant masses to celebrate Confirmation.  The six primary schools in our parish will join together for the 2 masses.  This is the first time there has been combined masses for all of the schools in the parish.  

 

The OLSC students mass will be att 1:00pm along with students from Bethany and St John's and there will be a second mass at 4:00pm for the students from St Andrew's, Corpus Christie and St Joseph's.  

 

Book Week 2026

Book Week begins on Monday 24th August at OLSC. The Book Fair will arrive at school on that day and will open for sales on Tuesday 25th August. The main event of the week is the annual Book Week Dress-up Parade,  where students are invited to dress up as a favourite book character or to wear colourful clothes to celebrate their love of reading.

 

Families are welcome to join us for this celebratory event as the students parade in their costumes, which will be held on Friday 28th August at 9 am in the school hall.

Library / Discovery Centre

Over the holidays and since the last newsletter there has been more progress in the building of our Discovery Centre / Library.  It is getting closer to completion each day.  Next week the plastering should be completed.

Cancellation of July Community Mass 

Thank you for your understanding regarding of this month's community mass.  This was due to Powercore needing to shut off the power to the site to connect the new building.  This was completed last weekend and the process ran very smoothly.
