Principal's Report
Welcome back to school everyone, what a week to start, a day after we lose an hour of sleep to daylight savings! The students have returned really settled and engaged in their learning. At mass on Sunday, Fr Junjun led a celebration of World Day for Migrants and Refugees. Fr Junjun's message was that in a world darkened by war and injustice, even when all seems lost, migrants and refugees stand as messengers of hope. Their courage and tenacity bear heroic testimony to a faith that sees beyond what our eyes can see and gives them strength to live fruitful lives. Fr Junjun also mentioned the devastation in the Philippines following a magnitude 6.9 earthquake that struck northern Cebu on September 30. Over 80 000 people are without homes. Our Rosie Cullen Foundation links us to the people of Cebu. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
Thank you to all parents for arriving at school pick up time no earlier than 3:10pm. The feedback we have received is that this timing is helping quicken up the pick up process. I have a meeting next week with Moira Shire CEO Matthew Morgan to discuss this matter further.
Last night the School Advisory Council met. We unpacked a number of the Child Safeguarding standards and how the school is meeting these standards. We discussed the different elements of Magnify Sandhurst and how the school will continue to develop in this area over the coming years. We also talked about reinstating our Sacred Heart Parents and Friends Committee. I will share more information regarding our P&F and ask for expressions of interest in the coming weeks. My hope is that we have enough interest to get the P&F Committee up and running either late this term or early next term.
I hope all families are having a smooth start to the term and are avoiding the swooping magpies around town as much as possible!
Take care and God Bless,
Jarrod
