John Paul II Feast Day

John Paul II Feast Day, Wednesday, 22nd October
On Wednesday, our school community celebrated the Feast of Saint John Paul II, our patron and spiritual guide. Whilst the weather tried to dampen our spirits, we had a wonderful day, filled with prayer, fun, crazy socks and treats!
We began the day with a liturgy, led beautifully by Fr Kasun and our school mission leaders. We then moved into groups with our buddies and throughout the rest of the day, we did activities such as a jigsaw puzzle challenge, a disco, tunnel ball, a quiz on JPII, a collaborative art activity and an indoor obstacle course. At the end of the day we met to announce the winners of the John Paul II Day Shield, with Toepfer winning on 158 points. Well done to Conelly and Gannon for being awesome competitors and demonstrating fantastic sportsmanship! We then celebrated our feast day with a feast of cookies, specially made by Mr Hallsworth. Thanks so much Mr Hallsworth for your cookie making and a huge thanks to the staff for helping organise and facilitate a wonderful day of celebrations for our students!
Thank you also to our families for your donations to our Socktober Fundraising Campaign, raising money for Catholic Mission. We are yet to finalise the total figure, so if you have any last minute spare change laying around, feel free to bring it in over the next week!
The biggest thank you must go to our student leaders! Our Year 5 and 6 students led their buddy groups with kindness, compassion and energy! It was so lovely to see the younger students inspired by their older peers who demonstrated true servant leadership. Congratulations and thank you for making this day such a positive and nurturing experience for all!
