Grade 3 | Blackwood
CLEVER CLASS
In some countries, soccer balls are made from recycled materials by using common household items like plastic bags, old rags, and string. Grade 3 Blackwood were given the job of collecting materials and constructing soccer balls to be used in our John Paul II Feast Day fun activities. We worked collaboratively in groups to make one ball per group.
We started with a small, tightly-packed core of newspaper, then wrapped more layers of newspaper on top. Then we used materials such as pieces of old clothing and rags to add bulk, maintaining a spherical shape. We completed the process by wrapping the ball in plastic and then tightly with string, twine and wool in a web-like pattern to hold it together.
We hope they pass the test at our JPII activity afternoon.
Thank you
Mrs B, Mrs Moynihan and Grade 3 Blackwood Students.
