Sustainability

Dear families,
Welcome to Term 4, a very busy time for our school, and in particular, our school gardens. We have lots of veggies growing at the moment; cauliflower, silverbeet, broccoli, broad beans and garlic all going strong. Our fruit trees and berries have jumped to life with lots of blossom and leaves. Looking forward to the term ahead.
Sustainability excursions
Over the next two weeks Grade 5&6 will be going on excursions to the Mornington Park Waste Transfer Station to learn more about what happens to waste, and how they recycle materials. We will be touring their site on our bus and possibly visiting the Tip Shop.
In the School Gardens
This term we are planting lettuce, peas, beans, tomatoes, pumpkins and Zucchinis to name but a few. The students will learn how to plant, the importance of manure and mulch, and generally looking after these plants. When they are ready to harvest, we will use them in our school school program.
Pots needed
If you have any unwanted plastic pots you are happy to donate to our school garden program, please drop them off at the school office.
