Principal's Message

Mr Ben Morgan | Principal

Dear Families,

Thank you for your continued support of our school community events. The John Paul II Catholic School Athletics Carnival was a great celebration and community event last Wednesday. Community remains a major focus in our Annual Plan, and this event highlighted our ever strengthening connections with the wider school community.

This year, we used a new model which allowed our early years students to remain engaged throughout the day, building a deeper sense of connection with the school. Many of our students experienced a range of emotions throughout the day. We thank you for sending your child to school, even if they were feeling nervous, anxious or a little worried. The reason for hosting events like this is to support our students to ‘step outside their comfort zones’ and to realise that it is normal to feel these emotions in new or unfamiliar situations. We have many supports in place to make sure they succeed and enjoy the day.

We extend our gratitude to Miss Negri for facilitating the day and planning such a wide range of athletic and novelty events. We also want to thank Matt and John for their efforts in preparing the oval through paint, mowing and watering in the lead up to the carnival.

We celebrated the Feast of John Paul II this week with a range of events on Wednesday. The students participated in a variety of thought provoking activities and despite the rain, it was a huge success. Thank you Ms Davies for all of the hard work and dedication in making our feast day such a success.

Staffing Update

Mrs Flora Pan (LOTE:Chinese) has extended her leave to include Term 4. Mr Quilliam will be teaching Digital Technologies this term in place of LOTE.

Car Park Update

We continue to make safety upgrades to our car park and drop-off/pick-up processes. One major problem we identified was that staff cars were required to use the main car park entrance as an exit. We also did not have enough parking spaces to cater for our growing staff.

We are pleased to announce that we have opened our new staff overflow car park and exit to Willoughby Court. This car park and exit are strictly for staff use only.  Along with a smoother exit for staff, our new car park frees up an additional 20 spaces for parents to use in the main car park.

There are still some safety upgrades to come, which involves moving the location of the Metro Bus Stop and installing speed humps in the car park.

Thank you for your continued support with keeping our students safe.
