VCE Art Making and Exhibiting

On Tuesday, our VCE Art Making and Exhibiting students visited The DAX Centre to participate in the Behind the Scenes: Curation and Conservation Program. Guided by Nathan, students were given an exclusive insight into the behind-the-scenes processes involved in exhibiting, caring for and conserving artworks within a not-for-profit gallery.
The DAX Centre works with emerging artists who have lived experience of mental health issues, providing opportunities to exhibit their work and supporting their ongoing artistic practice. Through art and exhibitions, the centre aims to raise awareness and challenge the stigma surrounding mental health.
The visit provided students with a valuable opportunity to connect their classroom learning, including the curation of their own art exhibitions, with the professional art world. Students gained a deeper understanding of the important roles that curation, conservation and galleries play in exhibiting, preserving and supporting artists and their work.
