As we come to the end of another busy term, I would like to take a moment to wish our entire school community a safe, restful and enjoyable holiday break.

The holidays provide a valuable opportunity for our students and families to pause, reconnect and recharge. While routines may look a little different, taking time to rest and enjoy the simple things can make a meaningful difference to our wellbeing.

I would also like to sincerely thank our parents and carers for your ongoing partnership with the school. Supporting the wellbeing, learning and development of our young people is a shared responsibility, and the relationship between home and school is an important part of this.

Thank you for the encouragement, care and support you provide to your children each day, and for the many ways you work alongside our staff throughout the year. Your partnership helps create a strong and connected school community.

For our primary students, the holidays are a wonderful opportunity to play, explore and spend quality time with family and friends. Some simple wellbeing ideas include:

  • Keep some routine: While holidays should feel relaxed, maintaining regular sleep and meal times can help children feel settled.
  • Get active: Encourage outdoor play, swimming, bike rides, walks or other activities that children enjoy.
  • Make time for play: Unstructured play gives children an opportunity to be creative, curious and independent.
  • Connect with others: Spend time together as a family and encourage children to connect with friends and extended family.
  • Enjoy some screen-free time: Balance technology with reading, creative activities, outdoor play and family conversations.
  • Practise gratitude: Encourage children to notice and talk about things they have enjoyed or are grateful for each day.
  • Let them help: Simple jobs around the home can build confidence, responsibility and a sense of contribution.
  • Prioritise rest: Children need downtime. It is perfectly okay to have quiet days with no particular.

For our secondary students, the holidays are an important chance to recharge after a busy term. We encourage students to:

  • Get enough sleep: Use the holidays to catch up on rest, while still aiming for a reasonably consistent sleep routine.
  • Take a genuine break: Give yourself permission to step away from schoolwork and enjoy activities that help you relax.
  • Stay connected: Make time for family, friends and people who support your wellbeing.
  • Move your body: Exercise, sport and time outdoors can support both physical and mental wellbeing.
  • Manage screen time: Be intentional about how you use social media, gaming and other technology, and take regular breaks.
  • Do something you enjoy: Read, listen to music, create, cook, play sport or pursue a hobby simply because it makes you happy.
  • Prepare gradually: If you have upcoming assessments or responsibilities, a small amount of planning can help reduce stress when school resumes.
  • Talk when things feel difficult: If you are struggling, don't feel that you need to manage everything on your own. Reach out to a trusted adult, family member, friend or support person.
  • Remember that rest is productive: Taking time to recharge is an important part of maintaining wellbeing and preparing for the term ahead.

To our Year 12 students, we wish you all the very best as you undertake your practice examinations during Week 1 of the holidays.

We recognise the effort, commitment and persistence that you have already demonstrated throughout the year. Approach your exams with preparation and confidence, but remember that a practice examination is also an opportunity to learn, reflect and identify areas for further growth.

Make sure you balance your preparation with adequate sleep, regular breaks, movement and time to recharge. Your wellbeing matters just as much as your academic preparation.

I hope the coming weeks provide our students and families with plenty of opportunities to rest, reconnect and create happy memories together.

Whether your holiday involves travel and adventure, time with family and friends, sporting activities, or simply enjoying a slower pace at home, I encourage everyone to make space for the things that bring you joy and help you feel refreshed.

Thank you once again for your continued partnership and support throughout the year.

Wishing all our students, parents, carers and staff a safe, happy and restorative holiday. We look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready for the term ahead.
