Conclusion of Studies at St Mary's College – Student Laptop Program
As the school year comes to an end, the ICT Department wish our Year 12 students all the best as they complete their studies at St Mary's College.
Under the St Mary's College Laptop Agreement, eligible Year 12 and Year 9 students may purchase their school laptop at the end of the program.
St Mary's recognises that access to a laptop is important for further study, work, and everyday use. To support this, the College offers a buyout program that allows families to take ownership of the device for a small fee, provided eligibility requirements are met.
Parents and carers will receive a letter from the Business Services Team outlining the buyout process and eligibility requirements.
Important Information
Before ownership can be transferred, the College must remove all St Mary's software and data from the device. This process is called "wiping" the device and is required by our ICT policies.
Students should ensure they have saved any personal files, photos, or documents they wish to keep to:
- Their personal cloud storage (for example, OneDrive, Google Drive, or iCloud), or
- An external storage device such as a USB drive or external hard drive.
Any files remaining on the laptop after it is wiped cannot be recovered.
Key Dates
- 18 September – VM students begin to finish their formal studies.
- 12 October – Physical audit of VCE student devices is completed.
- 16 October – VCE examinations commence.
- 12 October (week beginning) – Buyout program information sent to parents and carers of VCE students.
- 16 November – All VCE students must return their device to the College office for wiping.
- 23 November – Devices begin to be returned to VCE students participating in the buyout program.
24 November – Year 9 device physical audit. Note: buyout information for Year 9 student laptops will be provided to parents prior to the end of the school year.
