This years production of Heathers: Teen Edition was a rousing success where over 140 students all got involved to create something beautiful. Heathers is based on the iconic 80s film of the same name, starring Winona Ryder as Veronica. The film, at its core, is a dark comedy satirising the image of popularity, packed with cutting-edge dialogue ("Did you eat a brain tumour for breakfast?") and themes of identity, belonging, and the price we pay to fit in.

The Teen Edition of the musical does a brilliant job of showcasing these themes in an appropriate way, allowing our students to still sell the message of being seen and making life "beautiful". It's a message of accepting each other, celebrating each other, and celebrating youth and life. And really, that's quite beautiful.

The week was spectacular for the students and the community alike, where the effort of mounting a production from costumes, sound, stage crew, make-up and lighting all came together alongside the cast and band. The production team in particular are so proud of all our students who demonstrated stamina, endurance, responsibility, problem solving skills and camaraderie throughout the intense week.

We also want to thank everyone who supported the teams throughout these last months and for coming to see the show. The turn out was huge, and the response was incredible, leaving the students on a high for weeks to come, while they have formed life long memories and friends they will cherish forever. Stay tuned for what’s on next year!
