On Monday 22 June, all Year 10 students embarked on an excursion to Deakin University. The day provided students with presentations that included information about study options, post-secondary school qualifications, tertiary prerequisites, apprenticeships and traineeships, VCE study scores and the calculation of the ATAR.

The excursion allowed students to take a guided tour around the university campus visiting multiple faculty buildings including Science, Film and TV, Nursing, Law, Teaching, Exercise and Sport Science and more. Deakin were very welcoming and our students had opportunities to hear from current Deakin students, ask questions, and gain useful insights into what tertiary studies they might like to explore in the future.

A timely experience just one day prior to the subject selection information evening on Tuesday 23 June for all current year 9 and 10 students and families who are gearing up to make subject decisions for 2027.

At this annual event on Wednesday 24 June we welcomed representatives from tertiary institutions to MGSC so year 10, 11 and 12 students had the opportunity to connect with universities, TAFEs and RTOs, and gather information about future study options. Every year 10 student attended the expo during period 4 with the exhibition remaining open during lunchtime so year 11 and 12 students could also visit to speak with the representatives and collect brochures.

We had 20 exhibitors available for our students: ACU (Australian Catholic University, AIE (Academy of Interactive Entertainment), Bond University, Carlton College of Sport, Chisholm Institute, Collarts, Deakin University, Deakin College, ADF (Defence) Careers, Holmesglen, IENA (Camps in USA), Kangan Institute, Latrobe, LCI, Monash University, Richmond Institute, Swinburne University, The Hotel School, The University of Melbourne, Victoria University
