to Junior students on personal achievements

Jamila is off to Tokyo

The Oxley community would like to congratulate Jamila W (6G) on her recent sporting achievements. She has proven her skill on the national stage by competing at the 50th Anniversary National Karate Championships in Geelong on Friday 2 August. Jamila secured the gold medal in the under 12 Kumite division, going undefeated throughout the tournament.

 

This victory caps off an outstanding year for Jamila, who also won the Victorian State title, the New Zealand Open Championships, and the Australian Open Championships.

 

Jamila’s impressive results have earned her qualification and an invitation to compete at the World Cup in Tokyo, Japan, next year.

 

Jamila has been training and competing for her club, Mooroolbark Wado-kai Do since the age of four.

 

Congratulations, Jamila, on an outstanding performance, and we all wish you the best as you prepare for Tokyo next year.

 


Christina, a Dancesport champion

Christina Y (2D) competed in the Tasmania Open Dancesport Championships on Saturday 10 August. Christina competed in six events in this competition across Latin ballroom and New Vogue in the Sub Juvenile level (under 10). 

She was one of the youngest competitors on the floor. She received three gold, one silver and two bronze medals for her efforts.
