Lions Club Public Speaking Competition
Over the past week, students have been busy preparing for the Lions Club Public Speaking Competition. This year's topic, "The Best Holiday Destination in Australia," challenged students to research, write, and present a persuasive speech about their chosen location.
Throughout the week, students developed their speaking and writing skills by researching information, drafting their speeches, revising their work, and publishing a final copy. They then practised their presentation skills, focusing on clear expression, eye contact, voice projection, and audience engagement.
Each student had the opportunity to present their speech in front of their grade level, demonstrating confidence and preparation. The standard of presentations was exceptionally high, making the selection process very difficult.
The top 12 speakers from across the cohort were then invited to present their speeches before a panel of Lions Club judges. These students showcased outstanding communication skills, confidence, and creativity as they shared their favourite Australian holiday destinations.
We are incredibly proud of all students for their hard work, enthusiasm, and willingness to challenge themselves. A special congratulations to our finalists for representing their grades so well and for their impressive performances in front of the Lions Club judges.
