Maximising learning growth to ensure all students can thrive.

Welcome to our first newsletter for Term 4!

It was great to see everyone return to school on Monday 6 October, feeling refreshed, connecting with their friends and teachers and ready to learn for the final term of 2025.

The beginning of Term 4 was also a significant moment for our Year 12 students who finished up their secondary school education last week… and what a week it was! The week included several dress up days, a trip to Gumbuya World, their Year 12 Celebration Day and Final Whole School Assembly. As always, our Year 12 students showed just how capable, confident, and outstanding they are — representing the College beautifully and reminding us what amazing young people they’ve grown to be.

We are extremely proud of our year 12's. We wish them all the best for their upcoming exams and the exciting future ahead. Congratulations to the class of 2025!

Buildings and Facilities

Over the holidays, a number of exciting building works were completed across the College. The Performing Arts Centre and foyer both received a fresh coat of paint and new carpet, creating a modern, professional, welcoming space for students and staff. A big thank you to Charlie, Daithi, Sharna, Terry, Jason and Darren for coming in over the break to move furniture and assist with the works — your support is greatly appreciated.

We also installed new soccer goals on the oval, following student requests raised during our Student Voice sessions — thank you to Terry Payne and Darren Wills for making this happen!

The H Wing classrooms have been freshly painted, helping keep our learning spaces looking fantastic.

Thanks to Tim Chapman and Tim Wright for all of their work in organising these updates!

The spaces look amazing and are part of our ongoing plans for continued improvements to our College.

Lyrebird Awards

We’re thrilled to share that Lilydale Heights College has been nominated for five Lyrebird Awards for our College Production of Chicago: Teen Edition

The nominations are:

Best Comedic Performer - Darcy F

Best Solo Song (Male Role) - Darcy F

Best Acting Partnership - Miranda G and Stella D

Best Performer in a Supporting Female Role - Tahana T

Judges Award - Lilydale Heights College and the way in which they really demonstrated inclusive casting in their production of Chicago: Teen Edition.

These nominations recognise the incredible talent, hard work and creativity of our students and staff involved in this year’s College Production of Chicago: Teen Edition. Being acknowledged across multiple categories is a wonderful achievement and a testament to the passion and teamwork that went into bringing the show to life.

Congratulations to everyone who contributed both on and off the stage. We’re so proud of you all and can’t wait for the Awards Ceremony on December 7. Good luck to all!

Music Showcase

Wow! What incredible music students we have at LHC. Our end of year Music Showcase was performed at The Memo in Healesville on Wednesday 15 October. It was wonderful to see all our families coming out to support the students as they performed a range of songs and arrangements for our enjoyment. The evening was hosted by Darcy F and Leonard R who both did an incredible job. All our students did a remarkable job and to witness the growth in musicianship was a joy to watch. Thank to our Head of Music, Ms. Grinbergs and all our music staff for organising this event and for their ongoing support of our music students. I am looking forward to the next performance!

New Student Dress Code Policy and Uniform Items for 2026

We’re excited to share with our community the launch of our new Student Dress Code Policy and updated uniform items. These changes are the result of consultation with students, families, and staff.

While some items and processes remain the same, there are also several exciting updates. There was plenty of buzz around the College last week as students got their first look at the new uniform display in the library.

For full details about the policy and the new uniform range, please refer to the extended post on Compass.

Happy World Teachers Day!

Today we celebrate World Teachers’ Day, a time to recognise and thank our incredible teachers for the difference they make every single day. At Lilydale Heights College, our teachers go above and beyond to support, challenge and encourage our students to strive for their best. Their dedication, care and commitment is incredible and we cannot thank them enough for the way they continually focus on improving the learning and wellbeing of all students. Thank you!
