Hands on Learning

Ashley Roberts

Welcome back to the Hands on Learning crew for Term 4!  As always, we have lots of exciting projects and activities planned to keep our students engaged and learning through practical, hands-on experiences.    Over the past few weeks, we have been busy preparing our garden for spring by mulching the HOL space, creating rock edging and weeding the veggie patch ready for future produce to be grown.

A big project for the students this term will be building planter boxes to bring some fresh greenery to the area outside the front office. We look forward to creating these and lifting the space for everyone to enjoy.    In another exciting community project, our students teamed up with Ian Darvel, Helen Darvel and Max Manning from the Lilydale Township Action Group to create unique Christmas trees for display in Lilydale’s Main Street. The trees were carefully built using repurposed wood and then painted by the students. This collaboration is a wonderful example of creativity, sustainability and community spirit. We look forward to continuing this partnership in the future.

Looking ahead, all three Hands on Learning groups are eagerly anticipating their upcoming celebration day. The day will be spent enjoying a fun outing to laser tag, no doubt filled with plenty of laughs and some friendly competition!

We’re proud of all the great work our students have done so far this term and can’t wait to see what else they achieve as the term progresses.    Stay tuned for more updates!
