SENIOR SCHOOL | Update

Dear Parents/Carers, Students And Friends

We are now well and truly into the rhythm of the school year, and it has been extremely pleasing to see the level of engagement across our Senior Campus, both in classrooms and during study periods. The Senior School team and staff have commented on the purposeful, settled and focused start to the year. There have been many examples of students living our values each day, demonstrating Respect, Responsibility, Resilience and Empathy in the way they approach their studies, their peers and their opportunities.

It has also been wonderful to see the way students have engaged in Optima, our pastoral care program. The recent focus on connection and resilience has been highly valuable. Our Year 11 students have been exploring character strengths, identity, values and aspirations, including the development of their Career Action Plans. This is an important part of helping students better understand who they are as learners and young people, and how this connects to their future pathways.

Our Year 12 students have been focusing on organisation and planning, with the introduction of wall planners, career action planning, goal setting and the commencement of one-on-one conferencing with their Optima teachers. These conversations are designed to provide individualised support, clarity and direction as students navigate the demands of their final year. Hopefully, families are seeing these planners in visible places at home as students map out their commitments and priorities.

As always, we continue to reinforce our high expectations. We ask all students to show up each day with purpose and with pride, striving to be their best in line with our motto, Optima Semper. This means living our values consistently and making the most of the opportunities available through our pillars of Excellence, Aspiration and Community

We are also continuing to reinforce expectations around uniform, mobile phones and safe travel to and from school. These expectations are not simply about compliance. They reflect the pride we have in our school and the genuine care we hold for every student in our community. When students meet these expectations, they contribute to a calm, safe and respectful learning environment for all. We appreciate your support with this.

With SACs now underway and coursework becoming increasingly demanding, it is important that students maintain strong organisation, consistent attendance and effective study routines. The Senior School team is here to support both students and families during this busy period, and we warmly encourage parents and carers to reach out if there is any way we can assist their child.

We are also looking forward to some exciting upcoming opportunities, particularly the Year 12 Retreat (20-22 April). This will be a valuable chance for students to connect, reflect on the year so far and consider what they want to achieve in the months ahead, both academically and personally.

Thank you for your continued support of our Senior School. I am very proud of the way our students have settled into the year and the purposeful manner in which they are approaching their learning and their final years at Frankston High School.

REMINDERS

A reminder to Year 12 families that Retreat forms are now overdue. If these have not yet been submitted, we ask that they are returned as soon as possible to ensure students can fully participate in this important program.

And Year 11 families, applications for the 2026 Central Australia trip are open. Students wishing to be considered for this trip need to ensure they have completed and submitted their applications.
