HoL | A Strong Start to the Year

Hands on Learning (HoL) has had a fantastic start to the term, highlighted by the incredible success of our recent BBQ fundraisers. Thanks to the support of staff, students and the wider school community, we were able to raise over $2,000 in sales and more than $1,200 in profit, an outstanding result that will go directly back into supporting our program and student projects.
Beyond the financial success, these fundraisers provide valuable real-world learning opportunities for our students. They took on roles in food preparation, customer service, money handling, and stock organisation, demonstrating teamwork, responsibility, and initiative throughout both days. It was wonderful to see students stepping out of their comfort zone, persevering when things got tricky, trying new tasks and helping each other out.
Most importantly, these fundraising experiences help to build confidence. For young people who are keen to enter the workforce or develop practical life skills, taking on this challenge is a meaningful step in the right direction and supports their future workplace readiness.
Funds raised will support future program activities, including garden and hut projects, resources, and end-of-year opportunities that benefit both current and future students and the wider school community.
Thank you to all staff who stopped by to support the BBQ and encourage our students, your support is valuable to each participating student and to the program as a whole.
See you at the next one!
