NAPLAN
The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is a literacy and numeracy assessment that students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 sit each year. This year, students will do the NAPLAN tests online. Online NAPLAN tests are designed to provide precise results and are engaging for students. The tests are tailored (or adaptive) which means that each test presents questions that may be more or less difficult depending on a student’s responses. This helps students remain engaged with the assessment.
We encourage encouraged to give the assessments their best effort to receive valuable data about their growth as learners. Our teaching teams analyse NAPLAN data, alongside other data sets, to ensure all learners are supported and challenged in their learning. The Department of Education also recognises students who demonstrate high achievement and/or high growth with certificates, which the school will present to students at a celebratory lunch later in the year.
In order to complete NAPLAN Online, each student will require:
- A fully-charged computer each day during the testing period
- The NAPLAN locked-down browser (LDB) application (updated for 2026 – green icon and downloadable via this link)
- Headphones for the Friday - Conventions of Language test (wired or wireless headphones will work with the lockdown browser, students are able to use either)
Adjustments are available for students with disability who have diverse functional abilities and needs. Reasonable adjustments will be provided for individual students with disability to access NAPLAN. Adjustments should reflect the support normally provided for classroom assessments and can be further discussed with the school prior to testing if required.
Please contact Ms Kate Adriaans (Head of Assessment and Reporting) or myself if you have any questions.
Welcome to our new staff
We have been fortunate to welcome some fantastic new staff to Frankston High School this year. We’re proud to introduce some of them to our school community below:
My name is Alex Spicer, and I’m teaching Music and Digital Technologies at Frankston High School this year. Before becoming a teacher, I worked as a music producer, creating remixes for different YouTube channels. I love walking and exploring, and I’ve got a pet project where I’m trying to review one coffee from every suburb in Melbourne!
Hi I'm Pat Mooney. I've been teaching a combination of VCE Accounting, VCE Business Management & VCE Legal Studies for the past 12 years. I'm very excited to join Frankston High School as a VCE Accounting teacher and also undertaking the Year 12 Coordinator role. Outside of school I'm a doting father to a little toddler and sport nut (love footy and basketball). I'm very excited to be joining the Frankston High School community and look forward to meeting and getting to know the students and families.

Staff Professional Learning
The first half of the term has gone quickly, with students now having completed four weeks of learning and beginning to prepare for several exciting careers and wellbeing-related events.
The professional learning our staff are engaging in through the Berry Street Education Model and our Professional Learning Communities continues to support strong consistency in teaching and engagement routines across the school. One example of this can be seen in the first ten minutes of every lesson, where staff enact consistent and predictable routines. Students line up outside classrooms, are primed for learning, and then transition quickly into learning once inside, often beginning with an independent starter task. These routines support student regulation, stamina and engagement, helping students settle and focus more effectively.
