Year 9 My Career Insight – Morrisby Program
The Department of Education has provided access to this program for all Year 9 students in government schools.
This program will enable student to learn about what skills and abilities they could bring to a career and will find out about what jobs match their abilities, interests and personality, and the subjects they need for those jobs.
Some steps involved include:
- Parent Consent
- Students register and complete practice tests
- Students complete Morrisby profiling
- Meetings to discuss report (parents can also attend)
- Reflection in Optima classes
Year 10 VCE and Careers Expo on Thursday 30 April
Final preparations for the event are currently underway. This is an excellent opportunity for Year 10 students to engage with universities, TAFEs, other training providers, the Australian Defence Force, and apprenticeship organisations, helping them explore and identify potential future pathways.
Year 10 Work Experience
Thank you to all students who have already commenced the online process. Work Experience will be held in the final week of Term 2 (22 June – 26 June).
The due date for submitting online forms is Monday 16 March, please email workexperience@fhs.vic.edu.au for support.
Students will have time to complete their OHS (safe@work) modules during Optima classes either late Term 1 or early Term 2.
White Card Training – students planning to work in construction will also need Construction Induction training (White Card), we are organising a training day for Wednesday 20 May for interested students. Please email workexperience@fhs.vic.edu.au or visit the Middle School Career’s Office to collect an application form.

Head Start – Congratulations to new SBAT Student
Congratulations to Oliver H (Year 11) who signed up and commenced his Head Start school-based apprenticeships (SBAT) with employer Andrew J. Robertson Plumbing on 18 February 2026 and is now completing his Certificate III in Plumbing.
The Head Start program will support Oliver as he embarks on his SBAT journey commencing his qualification certificate, attending work with his employer and also working towards completing his VCE VM studies at school.
Neil Evans, Head Start Coordinator, and the Head Start team, wish Oliver all the best as he pursues his chosen career pathway.
