Term 1, Week 10
What a fantastic Term 1 it has been in Year 1/2! We are now fully settled into our classrooms and daily routines. The students have made excellent progress across Literacy, Numeracy, and Integrated Learning.
To support our Integrated unit this term we attended an incursion which focussed on self-expression through art using Picasso-inspired self-portraiture as the creative medium. The children were able to learn about how pioneer artists, such as Picasso, used shape, colour, and exaggeration to represent emotions and ideas rather than realism. To celebrate all the learning we have done through our Integrated unit “How do I express myself through art?”, we will be holding a Year 1/2 Art Gallery Exhibition at school this Wednesday afternoon! Parents and caregivers are welcome to attend our Year 1/2 Art Gallery from 3pm onwards on Wednesday the 1st of April.
We were so impressed by the effort and determination shown by our students during the Whole School Cross Country event, with many putting in extra hard work during their PE lessons. The Cultural festival was a highlight, with students having a fantastic time throwing colour at their teachers and friends. In Patch, we made delicious veggie pizzas and enjoyed tasting fresh herbs from our Patch Garden. Our Free Dress Day was a great success, and we sincerely appreciate the generous chocolate donations for the school’s Easter hampers.
We’re also excited to wrap up the term with celebrations for Chinese Day on this Tuesday, March 31st. A reminder that students can dress up for Chinese Day or wear red.
