Science at BPS
Term 1, Week 10
Wowee, what an amazing term we have had with an incredible amount of science learning being experienced in such a short time. Many year levels have had a focus on our place in the solar system which has been very topical given the Artemis II Mission which is about to launch this week. (If you'd like to know more, head to https://www.nasa.gov/humans-in-space/artemis/)
The grade 3/4's have delved into the water cycle and the rock cycle, meeting some new characters called Droppy and Rocky who helped them visualise and learn the important stages in each of these ongoing patterns on our planet.
Science club for senior students has commenced on Monday lunchtimes and the students have had fun with some chemical reactions and playing with things that fly.
Science club and the grade 5/6 classes have also been paired with their very own STEM professional through the STEMPALS program and we are looking forward to getting to know our professionals in more depth through exchanging letters in the terms ahead.
Science club have been paired with Jordan who is a Developmental Biologist, 5T with a Eleanor who is a Science Communicator, 6L with Jack who is a Microbiologist, 5/6R with Edafe who is a Geologist, 5L with Michael who works in Molecular Biology and 6B with Victoria who works in Chemistry and Neuroscience. Some varied scientific fields for us to explore a little more deeply through the STEMPALS partnership.
Thank you to those students who have brought in books or resources to share this term. If you have any resources in the chemistry area, that will be our main curriculum focus in Term 2.
Please enjoy some photos of our science lessons from throughout the term and as always, stay curious!
