3/4 CLASSROOM

In Writing, we have started exploring persuasive letters. Students have identified the features of persuasive writing, generated convincing points and begun planning their introductions. 

In Spelling, we have been learning about “rabbit words”. These words have a doubled consonant in the middle, such as ‘rabbit’. We have also explored the hard and soft sounds made by the letters c and g. This knowledge helps students spell words containing these letters. 

In Reading, we have continued reading The Wild Robot. We have also read informative texts about real robots and learnt about how they are used. 

In Maths, we finished learning about different types of angles. We are now focusing on time. Students are learning to read and represent time, as well as use language such as past, to, quarter past and quarter to. 

In RE, we have been learning about Jesus’ mission. Students have also reflected on the missions we are called to carry out in our own lives. 

In Inquiry, we have continued our unit on managing Earth’s resources. This week, we explored how Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have cared for Country for thousands of years. We also considered how these important practices continue to support the sustainable management of the environment today. 

It was wonderful to see the students dress up and join in the fun of Book Week. We were also fortunate to attend a session presented by the Rushworth Library. This reminded students that their local library is a wonderful place to visit and borrow books.
