This fortnight, students are focusing on the expectation, “We tidy up,” to help care for our school environment. This focus was chosen by students at this week’s SRC meeting as an area they believe is important for our school at this time.

What a wonderful week of literature, imagination and learning as we celebrated Book Week across St Mary’s! 

We began with our fantastic Book Week Parade, where students proudly brought their favourite book characters and role models to life. It was wonderful to see students sharing their love of books, identifying with characters and stepping into their shoes for the day. 

On Monday, our F/1/2 students visited the local library for a special story time hosted by the wonderful Amber. Students were taken through the magic of storytelling before enjoying a fantastic craft activity inspired by their reading. 

Thursday saw our Year 3/4/5/6 students enjoy their own experience at the community library. These visits are a wonderful opportunity for our students to explore and connect with the services available within our local community, while continuing to build an appreciation for the rich world that stories open to us. 

The week culminated in a fantastic series of multi-age story rotations. Students moved through different stories and associated activities, learning alongside children from across the school. It was a beautiful celebration of reading, creativity, connection and our shared love of learning. 

What a fabulous week celebrating the joy and possibilities that come from literature! 

As Dr Seuss so wonderfully reminds us: 

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go!"
