Business & Economics - Grade 5/6
This term, students developed essential life skills through a unit on personal money management and small business. They learned how to budget, save, and make informed spending decisions, building their confidence in managing money responsibly. Students also explored how small businesses produce and distribute goods and services, and the role they play in the community.
An important focus was on ethical business practices, including fairness, honesty, and environmental responsibility. To conclude the unit, students took part in the “Teenager Boss Challenge,” where they managed a family grocery budget by planning, comparing prices, and making cost-effective choices. This hands-on project allowed them to apply their learning in a meaningful and practical way.
STEM Specialist Class – Grade 3/4
This term in STEM, our Grade 3/4 students have been investigating how air creates force to move objects. Through hands-on learning, students designed and built their own balloon rockets to explore the relationship between force and motion.
Students tested their balloon rockets, recorded their results, and compared the distances travelled. They observed how the air escaping from the balloon created a force that pushed the rocket forward along a string. Through discussion and experimentation, students developed their understanding of how forces can cause objects to move.
The investigation encouraged students to think like scientists by making predictions, conducting fair tests, collecting data, and explaining their findings using scientific vocabulary. It was wonderful to see students collaborating, problem-solving, and refining their designs to improve performance.
Dance - Foundation to Grade 4
This term, students from Foundation to Grade 4 have been developing their dance skills by creating, practising, and performing their own dance sequences. They confidently presented their work to their classmates, building their performance skills and self-confidence as they performed for an audience.
Students have explored a wide range of dance styles, including Ballet, Hip Hop, Line Dancing, Disco, Rock and Roll, and a variety of cultural dances. Through Indigenous Australian, Irish, and Indian dance experiences, students learned about different cultures and traditions while demonstrating respect and appreciation for each style.
Students enthusiastically responded to the different dance experiences, sharing what they enjoyed most, and explaining why. Many students expressed enjoyment of learning new movements, working collaboratively with their peers, and exploring the unique rhythms, music, and storytelling elements of each dance style.
